Melinda Harris Memorial Fund

We are asking our AFA kin to contribute to the Memorial Fund of Melinda Harris, who passed on May 29, 2026. Melinda will be interred at the Óðinshof Cemetery at Brownsville, as was her wish.

Melinda had no will, but made it clear to us that she wanted to be interred at Óðinshof.  Her family knew of her connection us. Her son asked the AFA to pay the cremation costs. Allsherjargoði Flavel had me reply to her son that we will pay for all funeral expenses so long as her remains are sent to us for interment. He agreed. I am working with the funeral home director to make sure that Melinda’s wishes are carried out.

Melinda was one of us and will have a place of honour with our other departed members in the Óðinshof Cemetery. The funeral home is applying for a VA headstone complete with the Þórr’s Hammer since she was a proud veteran of the US military.  

Our financial responsibility is cost of cremation and delivery of her remains to Brownsville at a cost of approximately $2200.  A formal graveside memorial will take place when the gravestone arrives.  Our wish is to do this at Vetrnætr in October.
