Helping a Member Deal with a Tricky Situation

My name is Keith Berezny and I’m a member of the AFA out of the Þórshof district. I am a father of two, a Marine Corps vet, and currently a correctional officer. About a week and a half ago now, I walk outside to greet my girlfriend in the driveway. Only to find my car is missing. Well come to find out, my vehicle had been repossessed. I thought I had been making do with what I had. I had been making my payments. But I didn’t realize, and while yes, it’s my fault in the long run, but there had been return payments from my loan company. I never realized because the funds ended up going to other bills that basically immediately were taken out. So now I am in a situation where I am trying to get my vehicle back and trying to take care of myself and my children with limited funds. With all this happening I am still trying to keep my head above water mentally. Thankfully so far so good. I appreciate the opportunity for the help that is being offered. Thank you. Hail The Gods! Hail The Folk! Hail The AFA!

Description

My name is Keith Berezny and I’m a member of the AFA out of the Þórshof district. I am a father of two, a Marine Corps vet, and currently a correctional officer. Over the past several months, I have been dealing with intense depression and anxiety out of nowhere that has caused me to have to take time off of work. The time off work has been a mixture of ensuring I make my appointments since my work schedule is unforgiving, ensure my medication is working for me, and several other reasons. Well in the midst of taking leave, my HR department explained our leave benefits incorrectly, and I didn’t find out until it was too late. I ended up running out of my leave days causing me not to be able to collect a paycheck. They said I would be rolled over to short term disability benefits which didn’t happen. So, I made do with what I had in my checking and savings and got by. Well at least I thought I did. In the mix of this, about a week and a half ago now, I walk outside to greet my girlfriend in the driveway. Only to find my car is missing. I reported a stolen vehicle to 911, officers responded, and we started making a report. Well come to find out, my vehicle had been repossessed. Again, I thought I had been making do with what I had. I was intending on returning to work soon but now until my vehicle is retrieved I cannot. I have tried getting a loan as much as I didn’t want to, and it was denied. I have been working on fixing my short term disability benefits through work as well. That way in the meantime I can use that funding towards my vehicle and other bills. But that is going as slow as possible due to my healthcare provider despite my attempts to get their help. With all this happening I am still trying to keep my head above water mentally. Thankfully so far so good. I appreciate the opportunity for the help that is being offered. Thank you. Hail The Gods! Hail The Folk! Hail The AFA!
